I don't feel I'm perspiring my energy away, like I used to. What happened was, I was in Los Angeles, trying to get signed, with a band that I was in at the timeit was called the Alien Project, but it was also called Street Talk. Ive tried to talk him out of it, but he wants to do it. And then he did his second one, and I said OK, look, if he does a second one, Im probably going to end up doing one. Then [drummer] Steve Smith wanted to do a jazz record. Youre phenomenal. AD: No. I go there, from time to time, when Im in town. The one thing that was good was that it allotted me some time to get some personal issues in order with myself. It's a situation that you have to grow into. I met him when Journey was opening up for Jeff Beck, before Steve was in the band. Because I am gonna get this done, eventually. But I needed to be ready to lay down and do this thing.
